Patient Virtual Visit Guidelines
- Patients must have an active MyChart account, and cell phone number in their chart, with the NYU Langone Health App downloaded on an iphone or ipad, in order to launch a telehealth video visit.
- Patients will receive standard appointment reminders, and upon scheduling, patients are automatically sent clear instructions, including a “how to video” on launching the video visit
- Mobile device with NYU Langone Health app
- Mobile devices strongly preferred; more seamless experience
- Desktop should only be used if it is the patient’s only device
- Appointment reminders will be sent 3 days prior to visit
- A reminder to check-in to appointment will be sent 20 minutes prior to visit
- Patient should check-in to appointment at least 10-15 minutes prior to the visit start time
- Most commercial plans are offering telehealth benefits at this time, and Medicare Fee For Service has announced today that they will be covering these visits as well. Individual provider participation still varies, and providers still need to be in-network with the patients plan to provide telemedicine services (Comprehensive list of eligible plans attached)
- Patient will only be able to schedule these visits over the phone. They will not be available for scheduling through MyChart or the Web, at this time
